I love a beautiful #flatlay.

- A flat lay is a picture taken from a birds eye view of a collection of items laid out on a flat surface. Usually there will be one item that is the main focus of the shot known as the hero, all the other items in the flat lay are there to complement the hero piece. -

When browsing two of my non business Instagram pages, I tend to live for a cleverly thought out flat lay, which largely comes from my longtime obsession with product photography and cute products.

A few mornings ago, I realized everything that I reached for had a floral theme, so grabbing the Canon and doing a flat lay was the order of the morning. As I realized that not only were all of the items flowers of some sort, I started to think of what made each item special.

Paper flowers that were made by a cool individual that I encountered in Las Vegas some years ago while on a trip with my husband.... The rose ink pen, used to write out affirmations for the morning, a gift from my niece from France; a coffee table book entitled "Enlightened Blooms," which is the inspo for a coffee table book that I'm working on. Winky Lux Flower Balm... A product obsession that I held until I finally purchased it, and now it has become a cheery part of my morning ritual. The floral stickers were going to be used to adorn kindness rocks that I was creating that day; the floral paperweight, from a museum that I frequent and purchased after being inspired to create a new project. This was after viewing an exhibit of bouquet paintings. A spritz of Victoria's Secret's Crystal Petals set my mind to floating on a rose shaped cloud as I got into my picturesque floral themed day.

As my blogging will be increasing greatly in the midst of this pandemic we're all going through, each time that I notice a theme in the products that I'm using, I will be doing a flay lay with a detailed play by play of why the items pictured hold special meaning, realizing that if I see a theme, its all kismet, and I'm on the right path for the day.
